Zood: a free browser bubble-shooter puzzle
Zoods is a colourful take on the classic bubble-shooter. A cluster of quirky little character tiles, the Zoods, hangs at the top of the board, and you fire more Zoods up at them from a cannon at the bottom. Land three or more of the same Zood together and they pop; any Zoods left dangling with nothing holding them up tumble away too, so a single well-aimed shot can clear a whole chunk of the board at once. Miss too often and the cluster creeps downward toward the line above your cannon. Clear every Zood to win. It's the kind of easy-to-learn, hard-to-put-down puzzle that's perfect for a quick break.
How to play
Aim the cannon and fire, building groups of three or more matching Zoods so they burst.
- Aim: move your mouse on desktop, or drag your finger on mobile, and the cannon rotates to point where you're aiming.
- Fire: click or tap to launch the loaded Zood.
- Bank shots: Zoods bounce off the side walls, so you can curve a shot into a gap you can't hit head-on.
- Chain drops: pop the Zoods that hold up a cluster and everything below them falls away, which is worth big points.
The cannon loads a fresh Zood after every shot, and the tray at the bottom shows what's coming up next.
Keeping the board in check
Every shot that doesn't clear anything leaves a Zood behind, so the board slowly grows. Miss several times and the whole cluster drops down a row while a new line appears at the top, so accuracy matters. If any Zood crosses the line just above the cannon, the game is over. Clear the entire board and you win.
Tips
- Look for two matching Zoods already touching, then aim a third into them for an instant pop.
- Use the walls: a bank shot can reach tucked-away Zoods and set up big drops.
- Target the Zoods holding up a large hanging group; dropping them clears far more than a single match.
- Don't waste shots when the board is getting tall, since every miss brings the cluster closer to the line.
